Namibia is home to state-regulated petrol and diesel prices. This allows the same prices at every fuel station at any given time and eliminates competition in the fuel sector. The prices are set by the Ministry of Mines and Energy on a monthly basis. Base price is given for Walvis Bay; prices for other areas are set by this base price plus an additional price for transport (between 5-30 cents). Since 1 January 2006 leaded petrol is in the process of being phased out and is substituted with LRP (Lead Replacement Petrol).
Valid since 13 July 2011 (base price)
- 93 octane – N$ 8.77
- 95 octane – N$ 8.84
- Diesel – N$ 9.25
Please note: by law fuel has to be paid in cash, however, since September 2011 more and more petrol stations allow paying fuel with credit cards.
